Description:
Celebrate International Women's Day with Girl Up Advocacy! This Advocacy Challenge is open to all Clubs in every country! This February and March, Girl Up challenges YOU and your Girl Up Club to:
  • Pick an advocacy issue that you care about that relates to creating safe spaces for girls.
  • Learn how to and create your own effective advocacy plan for that issue.
  • Create your own online petition to mobilize your Club and your community to take action on the issue you care about and support your recommended solution.
  • Take action and implement your plan! Submit an Activity Report in your Club’s group page in the Girl Up Community to get Club points for your participation.
  • Earn bonus points for submitting a video of your Club engaging with the Challenge.
According to the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), a safe space is a formal or informal place where women and girls feel physically and emotionally safe. The term ‘safe,’ refers to the absence of trauma, excessive stress, violence (or fear of violence), or abuse. It is a space where women and girls feel comfortable and enjoy the freedom to express themselves without the fear of judgment or harm.
