SchoolCycle Fundraising Spotlight: Girl Up Houston Benefit Concert
On August 12, 2017 Girl Up Houston Club led by Lauren Yang held its second annual Spread the Music Benefit Concert to raise funds for Girl Up. This year, the benefit concert raised over $9,000 for SchoolCycle (an initiative to raise funds for bikes for girls to go to school in countries like Malawi and Guatemala). The event had over 80 performers and volunteers making it a true teamwork event where members of the community contributed. We are so proud of Girl Up Houston club and we can't wait till the next benefit concert!
Here's what Girl Up Houston Club President Lauren Yang has to say:
I cannot thank the Houston community enough for coming out to support young musicians and girls' rights globally. With over 80 performers and volunteers, hundreds in the audience, and a dedication and passion to advocate for and impact girls in developing countries, we were able to raise over $9,000 for SchoolCycle.
