Who Are The Girls And Women Impacted By Cuts On U.S. Foreign Aid?

You've heard it all over the news. The release of the administration’s 2018 budget proposal, which eliminates all U.S. funding for international family planning and reproductive health, is important. Girl Up works to ensure all girls are healthy so they can go to school, decide when they want to get married and when they want to have children - if any. Our work in Guatemala directly impacts the girls we met.

The U.S. is the largest funder of family planning and reproductive health around the world, providing 44 percent of all international aid for such programs. The sudden withdrawal of such a significant portion of funding, as outlined in the Fiscal Year 2018 budget request, will be nearly impossible to replace – jeopardizing the health and rights of women and families all over the globe and standing in stark contrast to our American values of prosperity, security, and goodwill.
